5A Region IV District 28 recap November 5, 2013
East Central scaled the state rankings by moving to 486 from 521 this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region IV District 28. The Hornets climbed the ranks as a result of beating South San Antonio 50-0.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Steele beat Carroll 45-3. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Steele's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. LG Williams threw for 212 and 1 touchdown and D'Angelo Wallace had 112 yards receiving. On the ground Justin Stockton contributed 201 yards. Matt Moen helped Steele's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 60 yards.
Williams put up the best numbers through the air as Scott Lehnhoff's team defeated the Tigers. Williams' favorite target this week was Wallace, who caught 3 passes for 112 yards.
Steele's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Knights feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Williams has thrown for 991 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Wallace has 21 catches for 435 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Steele takes on second place Southwest.
East Central made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,637 from 5,095. The advance stemmed from a 50-0 victory over the Bobcats last week.
