Softball Recap: St. George's Takes a Loss

Columbia Academy hit St. George with a four-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Gryphons took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Gryphons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Katie Wolaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. George's saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laurel Rogers, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

St. George's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Columbia Academy, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-3.

St. George's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Columbia Academy, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-2 loss against Silverdale Academy on the 14th.
