Volleyball Recap: Marshall Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Marshall entered their tilt with El Monte on Monday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 3-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 on September 8th.

While Marshall won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-14, 25-22.

Marshall got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lena Lao out in front who had nine digs and two aces.

Lao wasn't the only good servers: Marshall was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in three consecutive matches.

Marshall's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for El Monte, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
