Preview: Holcomb Longhorns vs. Cimarron Bluejays
The Holcomb Longhorns will head out on the road to take on the Cimarron Bluejays at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Holcomb is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Kansas (they are ranked 42nd, while Cimarron is ranked 252nd).
Holcomb can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They put the hurt on Scott with a sharp 55-29 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Holcomb.
Holcomb got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Halle Jones out in front who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least a third of Holcomb's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jera Kruleski, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cimarron beat Ulysses 41-31 on Friday.
Holcomb is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Cimarron, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13.
Everything came up roses for Holcomb against Cimarron in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 61-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holcomb since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
