Baseball Recap: Browne Comes Up Short

Browne extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 9-7. They lost 7-1 to the Cesar Chavez Champions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Champions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 on Monday.

Browne saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Franco Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Lopez has hit this season.

As for Cesar Chavez, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Cesar Chavez's side, Manny Silvas tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Silvas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cesar Chavez let Andrew Garcia and Zaire Griffin run wild. Garcia went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while Griffin got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Griffin has posted since back in March. Cesar Valentin-Rochin was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Browne will take on La Joya Community at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
