Softball Recap: Conant Victorious

Conant's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Schaumburg Saxons by a score of 6-1. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Saxons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Dani Gemmell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Falcone, who fired off three home runs, four runs, and one stolen base while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Conant lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Conant's record is now 11-7. As for Schaumburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Conant will challenge Palatine at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Schaumburg, they will square off against Hoffman Estates at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Saxons are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a 20-game losing streak.
