Preview: Everton Tigers vs. Halfway Cardinals
Everton is 1-9 against Halfway since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Everton Tigers will get right back to it and host the Halfway Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 44 consecutive losses for Everton and four for Halfway.
Everton suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 97-20 loss at the hands of Chadwick. Everton has not had much luck with Chadwick recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from James Grisham, who scored four points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Everton struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They are winless (0-7) when they just don't pass the ball.
Meanwhile, Halfway fought the good fight in their overtime match against St. Elizabeth on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 46-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Halfway has suffered yet this season.
Everton dropped their record down to 0-17 with that loss, which was their 18th straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Halfway, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Everton lost to Halfway at home by a decisive 60-43 margin when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Will Everton have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
