Softball Recap: Rhea County Victorious

Rhea County saw some tournament action on Friday. They came out on top against the South Pittsburg Pirates by a score of 5-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Eagles.

Allie Shaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lakyn Lockhart, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Brook Tallent was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Rhea County now has a winning record of 3-2. As for South Pittsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Rhea County has already played their next matchup, an 11-1 defeat against DeKalb County on the 21st. As for South Pittsburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 1-0 loss against Rockvale on the 21st.
