Softball Recap: Selma Beats Tulare Union for Their Third Straight Victory

Selma had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Tulare Union Tribe. The Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tribe, too.

Audreena Duron was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Duron was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

Duron wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gabriela Pena, who went 2-for-3 with six RBI, one run, and one double. Those six RBI gave Pena a new career-high. Lillyen Moreno also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Selma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Selma's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Tulare Union, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.

Selma didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-2 defeat against Shafter on the 12th. As for Tulare Union, they have also already played their next matchup, a 5-0 victory against Sanger West on the 12th.
