Softball Game Preview: Overton Bobcats vs. Cane Ridge Ravens

The Overton Bobcats will head out on the road to take on the Cane Ridge Ravens at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Overton will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Overton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Franklin on Wednesday. With that win, the Bobcats brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Jailyn Norman was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Trista Norris, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple.

Overton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Cane Ridge had taken Antioch down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. Cane Ridge came up short against Antioch, falling 20-5.

Cane Ridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tracy Za, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Overton's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Cane Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Overton took their win against Cane Ridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 29-0. Will Overton repeat their success, or does Cane Ridge has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
