Softball Recap: Los Altos Wins Going Away Against Gunn

Los Altos lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Gunn, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Titans on Thursday. Considering the Eagles have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Chloe Caldbeck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, Sabrina Neal was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Makayla Mase was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Los Altos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Los Altos and bumps their season record up to 9-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Gunn, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Los Altos will challenge Westmont at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gunn, they will square off against Homestead at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
