Basketball Recap: New Buffalo Bison vs. Cassopolis Rangers
New Buffalo was the 41-32 winner over Cassopolis when they last played one another back in January of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The New Buffalo Bison lost to the Cassopolis Rangers at home by a 48-34 margin on Monday.
Despite the loss, New Buffalo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Shyann Spaulding posted eight points and seven boards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cassopolis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryley Bowsher, who went 8-for-17 to rack up 20 points and seven steals. Bowsher has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Boyer, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.
New Buffalo's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Cassopolis, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Looking ahead, New Buffalo will challenge Howardsville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cassopolis, they have already played their next matchup, a 71-49 win against Marcellus on the 11th.
