Basketball Recap: Socastee Takes a Loss

Socastee extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-6. They were dealt a 64-35 defeat at the hands of the Wando Warriors. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Socastee lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kyler Wethington, who posted ten points. Chris Ryan was another key player, putting up eight points.

As for Wando, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5. The contest marked their most dominant victory of the season so far.

Wando found their leader in freshman Austin Dunleavy, who went 7-for-13 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dunleavy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sully Templeton, who put up ten points and six rebounds.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Socastee won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Stall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Braves' defense better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 50.8 points per game this season. As for Wando, they will face off against Bishop England at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
