Baseball Recap: North Buncombe Comes Up Short

Asheville hit North Buncombe with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Black Hawks fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 9-8. The Black Hawks have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Kameron Keenan put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because North Buncombe is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise. Keenan was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Keenan wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Pitts, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Davis Franklin was another, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

North Buncombe now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Asheville, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Asheville will challenge Daniel at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Buncombe will be paying especially close attention to the Cougars' contest: after the Cougars face off against the Lions, they'll take on North Buncombe again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
