Basketball Game Preview: Newsome Wolves vs. Lake Gibson Braves

The Newsome Wolves just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Lake Gibson Braves at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Newsome is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

On Tuesday, Newsome didn't have too much trouble with Leto as they won 64-46. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Falcons are ranked 525th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lake Gibson had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 55-39 win over Father Lopez on Monday.

Lake Gibson's win came from a few key players Newsome will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was A'Darrion Willis, who posted 18 points. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Epps, who had 13 points.

Newsome's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Lake Gibson, their record now sits at 6-13.

Newsome opened the new year with a less-than-successful 56-47 defeat to Lake Gibson. Can Newsome avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
