Softball Recap: North Davidson Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

North Davidson extended their winning streak to eight on Thursday, bumping them up to 20-5. Everything went their way against the Oak Grove Grizzlies as they made off with an 8-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Rileigh Barker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Heidi Barker, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Bryton Zimmerman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: North Davidson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.

As for Oak Grove, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-9. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Oak Grove's side, Harper Sugg was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

As of now, neither North Davidson nor the Grizzlies have any future games scheduled.
