Mt. Vernon won the last time they faced East Newton and things went their way on Thursday too. The Mt. Vernon Mountaineers came out on top in a nail-biter against the East Newton Patriots, sneaking past 42-39. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mountaineers.

Mt. Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for East Newton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will face off against Lamar at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Vernon is facing Lamar at the right time seeing as Lamar is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for East Newton, they will challenge Cassville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Cassville will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something East Newton surely won't give up without a fight.
