Basketball Game Preview: Gwynn Park Yellowjackets vs. Westlake Wolverines

The Gwynn Park Yellowjackets will face off against the Westlake Wolverines at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Gwynn Park's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Gwynn Park had taken Potomac down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Yellowjackets fell 69-64 to the Wolverines. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (63), the Yellowjackets still had to take the loss.

Westlake hadn't beaten St. Charles on the road since December 9, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Wolverines came out on top against St. Charles by a score of 53-43.

Gwynn Park better focus on containing Darius Kemper and Israel Warner as the pair were huge in Westlake's win. Kemper posted 14 points in addition to five assists and five boards, while Warner dropped a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. That's the most assists Kemper has posted since back in December of 2024. Dominick Wallace-Lewis was another key player, putting up six points.

Westlake now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Gwynn Park, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Gwynn Park lost to Westlake on the road by a decisive 57-42 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2019. Thankfully for the Yellowjackets, Cameron Tweedy (who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 16 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
