Recap: Flanagan-Cornell Falcons vs. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons

If the Flanagan-Cornell Falcons were feeling good off their 55-30 takedown of the Herscher Tigers last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Flanagan-Cornell took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Flanagan-Cornell of the 64-45 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.

Despite the loss, Flanagan-Cornell still got an impressive performance from Kesler Collins, who scored ten points along with four steals and three blocks. Connor Reed was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven assists and six rebounds.

Flanagan-Cornell's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flanagan-Cornell won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. One thing working in Tri-Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, they will head out on the road to take on the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fieldcrest will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
