Baseball Game Preview: Albuquerque Bulldogs vs. Rio Grande Ravens

Albuquerque is 1-9 against Rio Grande since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Albuquerque Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Rio Grande Ravens at 3:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Albuquerque is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Saturday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Manzano.

Albuquerque saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Roman Viscarra, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Viscarra has posted since back in March of 2024. Another was Estevan Baca, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Meanwhile, Rio Grande faced Los Lunas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Rio Grande fell just short of Los Lunas by a score of 4-2. The Ravens' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Albuquerque's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Rio Grande, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Albuquerque suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to Rio Grande when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Albuquerque avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
