Highland extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 5-0. They came out on top against the Evergreen Christian Eagles by a score of 73-61. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Eagles are ranked 40th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

As for Evergreen Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3. The defeat continues a trend for them in their meetings with Highland: they've now lost five in a row.

Evergreen Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cole Forbrich, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jafet Valencia, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

Coming up, Highland will be home for the holidays to greet Riverdale Baptist at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Evergreen Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 88-81 victory against Seton on the 13th.
