Baseball Recap: Harding Gets the Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Harding had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Avon Lake Shoremen 7-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Gummy Hart made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Hart was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Khalef Freeman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Harding's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-1 (and 8-10 when he doesn't). Jacob Borsic was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Harding's victory bumped their record up to 16-11. As for Avon Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 16-11.

As of now, neither Harding nor the Shoremen have any future games scheduled.
