Softball Game Preview: York Suburban Trojans vs. Oley Valley Lynx

The York Suburban Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Oley Valley Lynx at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. York Suburban knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Oley Valley likes a good challenge.

Last Monday, York Suburban earned an 11-7 win over Central Dauphin East.

Ava King was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. King was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Sophia Maldonado was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Celina Jones was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Oley Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Muhlenberg 9-7.

Cheyenne Walsh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Oley Valley let Ava Walters and Emma Ott run wild. Walters scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Ott scored a run while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Schlegel, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

York Suburban's record is now 3-0. As for Oley Valley, their record is now 1-0.
