Soccer Game Preview: Granada Hills Charter vs. Birmingham

Granada Hills Charter is 1-8-1 against Birmingham since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Granada Hills Charter Highlanders will venture away from home to challenge the Birmingham Patriots at 2:30 p.m.

Granada Hills Charter is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Wednesday, they were much more limited against El Camino Real on Friday. They lost 4-1 to the Royals. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Royals are ranked 12th).

Meanwhile, Birmingham waltzed into their game on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Cavaliers. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by exactly two goals.

Birmingham's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those four matchups. As for Granada Hills Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6-4.

Granada Hills Charter might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Birmingham when the teams last played back in January. Can Granada Hills Charter avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
