Baseball Recap: Pine Crest Gets the Win

Pine Crest never let their opponents score on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Piper Bengals 2-0. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bengals, too.

Pine Crest got a great performance from Bryant Barkan as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Barkan a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Max McCawley, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Pine Crest and bumps their season record up to 4-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Piper, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine Crest will square off against North Broward Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Piper, they will take on Pompano Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
