Baseball Game Preview: Narragansett Mariners vs. Middletown Islanders

The Narragansett Mariners will challenge the Middletown Islanders at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Middletown took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Narragansett, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Narragansett had just enough and edged out Ponaganset 9-7.

Finley Hohl looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Riley Cronin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson DiFilippo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Middletown's offense. They lost 10-0 to East Greenwich on Friday. The Islanders haven't had much luck with the Avengers recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Narragansett's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1. As for Middletown, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
