Volleyball Recap: Emily Delarosa Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Jal

Dexter's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Jal Panthers. The Demons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Dexter had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-11.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dexter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emily DeLaRosa, who had six kills, three digs, and two aces. What's more, DeLaRosa racked up 27 assists, the most she's had since back in September. Another player making a difference was Melody Duran, who had seven kills, five digs, three aces, and one block.

They weren't the only good servers: Dexter was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive contests.

Dexter's record now sits at 12-5. As for Jal, their defeat ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.

Coming up, Dexter will venture away from home to take on New Mexico Military Institute at 6:30 p.m. on the 21st. As for Jal, they will host Loving at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
