Soccer Game Preview: West Springfield vs. Woodson + How To Watch

The West Springfield Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Woodson Cavaliers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

West Springfield took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Robinson. Given West Springfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Robinson are ranked 228th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Woodson sidestepped Fairfax for a 2-1 win. The victory continues a trend for Woodson in their matchups with Fairfax: they've now won three in a row.

Woodson's win bumped their record up to 4-2-1. As for West Springfield, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

West Springfield couldn't quite get it done against Woodson when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 2-0. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
