Volleyball Recap: Emily Gray and Aliyah Marks Secure Win for Maple Mountain

Maple Mountain had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Salem Hills Skyhawks. This was payback for the Golden Eagles, who suffered a 3-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Maple Mountain had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 26-28, 25-19, 25-19, 25-19.

Maple Mountain was led to victory by Aliyah Marks and Emily Gray. Marks had eight digs and three aces, while Gray had four digs. Those four digs gave Gray a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Maple Mountain was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 18 consecutive contests.

Maple Mountain's record now sits at 14-5. As for Salem Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
