Baseball Game Preview: Cromwell Panthers vs. North Branford Thunderbirds

Cromwell is 2-8 against North Branford since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Thunderbirds at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cromwell 4, North Branford 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Wednesday, Cromwell came up short against Portland and fell 7-4.

Cromwell saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jess Elfreich, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Another was Evan Ucol, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, North Branford had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cougars, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Thunderbirds have posted since April 11th.

North Branford pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cromwell, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7-1.

Cromwell couldn't quite finish off North Branford in their previous meeting back in April and fell 4-2. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
