Baseball Game Preview: Melbourne Bulldogs vs. Merritt Island Mustangs

The Melbourne Bulldogs will face off against the Merritt Island Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Melbourne will be strutting in after a victory while Merritt Island will be coming in after a loss.

Last Monday, Melbourne earned a 7-3 win over Central. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Sean Gates looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Melbourne let Bryson Ayala and Nolan Keeley run wild. Ayala scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Keeley scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Bryce Conner, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Merritt Island's offense. They fell just short of Vero Beach by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. The loss was the Mustangs' first of the season.

Merritt Island saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ty Brandes, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Brandes' stolen this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Merritt Island fell to 3-1. As for Melbourne, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
