Softball Recap: Exeter Triumphs

While Exeter's victory against Hoover wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Exeter skirted past Hoover 4-3. The Monarchs haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Chloe Sparrow spent all 11 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Lanie Uruchurtu was excellent, going 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Leila Whitworth, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Exeter's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Hoover, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Exeter has already played their next matchup (against Roosevelt), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Hoover, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-2 loss against Avenal on the 22nd.
