Baseball Game Preview: Platte Valley vs. Platteview Trojans

Platte Valley will be taking part in a tournament against the Platteview Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Platte Valley will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Platte Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Ralston, who was ranked 16th at the time (Platte Valley was ranked tenth). Platte Valley came out on top against Ralston by a score of 10-6 on Thursday. While Platte Valley didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Platteview got the win against Beatrice on Thursday by a conclusive 13-3.

Nick Clark looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Platteview let Lance Christiansen and Layton Visocky run wild. Christiansen went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Visocky went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Visocky a new career-high. Tucker Riha was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Platteview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Platte Valley's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Platteview, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Everything went Platte Valley's way against Platteview in their previous meeting last Wednesday, as Platte Valley made off with a 13-0 victory. Will Platte Valley repeat their success, or does Platteview has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
