Football Recap: Vista Murrieta Broncos vs. Villa Park Spartans

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Vista Murrieta had no problem doing just that on Friday. They skirted past the Villa Park Spartans 23-20. That's more bragging rights for the Broncos, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bryson Beaver continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 244 yards and two touchdowns. Tyler Caldwell was Beaver's top target, picking up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. All came courtesy of Gavin Facer: he went 3-for-3 kicking field goals for nine points, and 2-for-2 kicking extra points for an additional two.

Vista Murrieta has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Villa Park, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 7-4.

Vista Murrieta's road trip will continue as they head out to face Cajon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cajon knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Vista Murrieta likes a good challenge.
