Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Pleasant Vikings vs. Deer Lakes Lancers

For the second straight game, Mt. Pleasant will face off against Deer Lakes. Mt. Pleasant is taking a road trip to square off against Deer Lakes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Pleasant will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Mt. Pleasant made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Deer Lakes, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Mt. Pleasant put the hurt on Deer Lakes with a sharp 11-1 victory on Monday. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Jacob Kitz spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Santino Marne was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Connor Drzal was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI.

Mt. Pleasant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Mt. Pleasant pushed their record up to 5-2-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Deer Lakes, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
