Football Recap: South Pointe Stallions vs. Richland Northeast Cavaliers
South Pointe entered their tilt with Richland Northeast on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Richland Northeast Cavaliers 56-6. Considering the Stallions have won eight contests by more than 28 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
South Pointe was led to victory by Mason Pickett-Hicks and Cam McMillon. Pickett-Hicks gained 237 total yards and two touchdowns, while McMillon threw for 273 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt. Pickett-Hicks was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards. Jordan Collins was another key player, picking up 89 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
South Pointe wouldn't let Richland Northeast keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Aakil Brown, J'Zavien Currence, and Kj Burg picked up one apiece. Brown has been hot , having also posted five or more total tackles the last seven times he's played. Rj Bufford Jr. was another major factor on D, making four total tackles and defending four passes in addition to snagging an interception.
South Pointe was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 241 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 152 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups.
South Pointe's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. As for Richland Northeast, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.
