Basketball Recap: Kenedy Extends Winning Streak to Five

Kenedy won the last time they faced Refugio, and DJ Williams did his part to make sure it happened again. The Kenedy Lions skirted past the Refugio Bobcats 61-58 thanks in part to Williams, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 boards. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Tristan Mireles, who posted 19 points and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Kenedy, bringing their record for this year to 9-15. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Refugio, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Kenedy Lions challenge the Yorktown Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Kenedy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Yorktown likes a good challenge. As for Refugio, they will host Pettus at 2:15 p.m. on Monday.
