Preview: Grand County Red Devils vs. North Sanpete Hawks
The Grand County Red Devils are on the road again on Wednesday and play against the North Sanpete Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on December 27th. Grand County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 252 points over their last four matchups.
Grand County pushed their score all the way to 57 last Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 84-57 defeat at the hands of Panguitch. Grand County has struggled against Panguitch recently, as their contest last Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Jason Mckinney put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 18 points. The game was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trace York, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, North Sanpete's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a hard 56-39 fall against Canyon View. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points North Sanpete has scored all season.
The losing side was boosted by Cole Cook, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was McKay Schlappi, who scored eight points.
Grand County's record now sits at 2-7. North Sanpete's record now sits at 4-4.
Wednesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Grand County have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 36 rebounds per game. It's a different story for North Sanpete, though, as they've been averaging only 26.4 rebounds per game. Given Grand County's sizeable advantage in that area, North Sanpete will need to find a way to close that gap.
Grand County came up short against North Sanpete in their previous meeting back in November, falling 59-50. Can Grand County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
