Volleyball Recap: Bella Gallegos' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mesa Vista over Questa

Mesa Vista lost against Questa back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Trojans fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Mesa Vista sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 25-27, 15-11.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bella Gallegos, who had 15 digs. Gallegos has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played. Valery Martinez also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Questa was led to victory by Ariana Medina and Jocelyne Ortega. Medina had 20 digs and six aces, while Ortega had 24 digs. Those six aces gave Medina a new career-high. Joshlyn Medina was another key player, getting ten digs and three aces.

Mesa Vista dropped their record down to 7-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Questa, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mesa Vista will square off against rival Penasco at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Questa is set to challenge their familiar foe McCurdy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
