Basketball Recap: West-Oak's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

West-Oak had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They wrapped up 2024 with a 48-33 victory over the Carolina Academy Trojans.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West-Oak to victory, but perhaps none more so than Max Wallace, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most rebounds Wallace has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Harry Burgess, who posted 17 points.

West-Oak smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

West-Oak's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-10. As for Carolina Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-12 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

West-Oak and Carolina Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. West-Oak (ranked 234th) will meet Daniel (ranked 39th) at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Similarly, Carolina Academy (ranked 282nd) will meet Palmetto (ranked 77th) at 8:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
