Baseball Recap: South Boston Wins Going Away Against Tech Boston Academy/Academy of Public Service

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Boston). They blew past the Tech Boston Academy/Academy of Public Service Bears 13-2 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won four in a row.

Carlos Francisco made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Francisco was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 12 games he's played dating back to last season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Victor Batista, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Batista is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Daniel Pe?a was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

South Boston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in three consecutive contests.

South Boston's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Tech Boston Academy/Academy of Public Service, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Boston will square off against Madison Park RVT/McKinley RVT at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tech Boston Academy/Academy of Public Service, they will face off against Brighton/Boston Academy at 3:30 p.m. on May 7.
