Soccer Game Preview: St. Francis vs. Loyola Academy

St. Francis is 0-4 against Loyola Academy since April of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Spartans will challenge the Ramblers at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in St. Francis' favor is that they have posted at least four goals in their last three games.

St. Francis' defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past IC Catholic Prep 4-0. Given St. Francis' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 37th, while IC Catholic Prep are ranked 248th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Loyola Academy and Lincoln-Way East finished up their match with a 0-0 draw on Friday.

St. Francis' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those four games. With that draw, Loyola Academy's record moves to 10-5-3.

St. Francis might still be hurting after the 5-1 loss they got from Loyola Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
