Baseball Recap: St. Charles Bulldogs vs. Michigan Lutheran Seminary Cardinals
St. Charles extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They lost 15-4 to the Michigan Lutheran Seminary Cardinals. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 13-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
St. Charles saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brenden Servantes, who went 1-for-2 with one run. That run was Servantes' first of the season. Another was Jacob Sutton, who earned one run and two stolen bases.
As for Michigan Lutheran Seminary, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-5. Considering they have won four matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Michigan Lutheran Seminary's side, Caleb Martin and Noah Reif did most of the damage at the plate: Martin got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI, while Reif went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Martin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Wakefield, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Looking ahead, St. Charles will host Montabella at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.78 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Michigan Lutheran Seminary, they will head out on the road to challenge Carrollton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
