Basketball Recap: Cypress Comes Up Short

Cypress fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Crean Lutheran on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 69-68 to the Crean Lutheran Saints. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (61), the Centurions still had to take the loss.

Cypress dropped their record down to 14-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Crean Lutheran, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cypress will face off against Foothill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cypress knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully Foothill likes a good challenge. As for Crean Lutheran, they will square off against Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Canyon sitting on five straight victories and Crean Lutheran on three.
