Volleyball Recap: Columbus Cardinals vs. Lake Mills L-Cats
Columbus extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 8-17. They lost 3-0 to the Lake Mills L-Cats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the L-Cats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.
Mia Powers paced Columbus' offense, picking up 18 kills. Powers got some help from Macy Reetz and her 18 assists. Finally, Payton Dornaus kept Columbus' defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.
As for Lake Mills, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 18th (when they won 3-0).
Lake Mills was led to victory by Tayte Crenshaw and Brigitta Hale. Crenshaw had 14 digs and three aces, while Hale had seven digs. That's the most aces Crenshaw has posted over her last eight contests.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Columbus is set to challenge their familiar foe Lakeside Lutheran at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lake Mills will face off against rival Poynette at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
