Wayne City takes loss despite strong efforts from James Walker and Javen Loker

Recap: Wayne City Indians vs. Carmi-White County Bulldogs

If the Wayne City Indians were feeling good off their 86-60 takedown of the Sandoval Blackhawks on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wayne City was outmatched by Carmi-White County on the road and fell 71-37. While losing is never fun, Wayne City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 642nd, while Carmi-White County is ranked 193rd).

Despite the loss, Wayne City had strong showings from Javen Loker, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds, and James Walker, who scored 13 points. Joey Greenwalt was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.

Wayne City's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-21. As for Carmi-White County, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne City will square off against Murphysboro at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Wayne City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday. As for Carmi-White County, they will head out on the road to face off against Lawrenceville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Carmi-White County comes in on three and Lawrenceville on six.
