The Immokalee Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Aubrey Rogers Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Immokalee has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Last Wednesday, Immokalee didn't have quite enough to beat Barron Collier and fell 15-14. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Jaylynn Rodriguez and Yazmin Herrera did some serious damage despite the final result: Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Herrera scored three runs while going 4-for-6. That's the most runs Herrera has posted since back in April of 2024. Jazmin Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
Even though they lost, Immokalee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Barron Collier only posted a batting average of .233.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Aubrey Rogers made sure to put some runs up on the board against Golden Gate on Wednesday. Aubrey Rogers was the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over Golden Gate. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Mia Arthur made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Izzy Spegowski, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Audrina Rodriguez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Immokalee now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Aubrey Rogers, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Immokalee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .445. However, it's not like Aubrey Rogers struggles in that department as they've averaged .391. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Immokalee couldn't quite finish off Aubrey Rogers in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 13-11. Can Immokalee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
