Basketball Recap: Life Prep Triumphs

On Saturday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, the Life Prep Fire made off with a 72-71 win over the Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers.

Legion Collegiate Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being LaKiara Alexander, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave Alexander a new career-high in assists (six). Amelia Williams was another key player, going 7 for 12 en route to 20 points.

Life Prep's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-9 record this season.

Life Prep will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Highland Park at 7:00 p.m. on February 20th. Legion Collegiate Academy has already played their next game (against Legacy Early College), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
