Soccer Game Preview: Mullen vs. Battle Mountain + How To Watch

The Mullen Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Battle Mountain Huskies at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mullen will be strutting in after a victory while Battle Mountain will be coming in after a defeat.

Mullen will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Lutheran on Thursday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 4-0 win. Considering Mullen have won nine contests by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Battle Mountain faced Pine Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Huskies lost 6-3 to the Eagles. The matchup was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Battle Mountain struggled afterwards.

They hit Pine Creek with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jakob Methvin, Carlos Gardea, and Carlos Ventura.

Mullen is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-1-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 38 goals over those eight contests. As for Battle Mountain, their loss ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3-2.

Mullen beat Battle Mountain 2-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
