Baseball Recap: Valley Center Beats San Dieguito Academy for Their Third Straight Victory

Valley Center entered their tilt with San Dieguito Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 5-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 last Wednesday.

Daniel Subish made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Manny Lopez was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.

Valley Center pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for San Dieguito Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley Center will head out to take on Ramona at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Jaguars 3.2, the Bulldogs 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for San Dieguito Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Canyon Crest Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs are facing the Ravens at the right time seeing as the Ravens are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
